“Fifty years ago, in 1964, I had the idea of producing a really top quality wine, that would combine and bind together the most elegant aromas and smoothness of taste.
Since then, seasonal conditions and microclimate essential for the maturation of the grapes that give life to “Gioè” has been repeated only seventeen times.
A wine that well represents my story in the winery, totally dedicated to the production of quality wines, that offer immense pleasure. Hence the choice of the name “Gioè”, a “joy” to the palate.
I chose to produce this wine using only the best vintages and the 2007 harvest with which we celebrate 50 years is special, its what’s called an excellent year: healthy grapes, full berries, successful drying, slow ageing in Slavonia oak barrels and in French oak barrels in the first and second passage in which the Recioto della Valpolicella was matured. And then the long ageing in bottles for about two years, in the silence of our historic cellars.”
